The main mechanism components of diesel engine generally include: engine body, crank linkage, valve train, fuel system, lubrication system, cooling system and electrical system. The basic structure includes: crank linkage mechanism, valve train mechanism, transmission mechanism, fuel supply system, lubrication system, cooling system and pneumatic system (commonly known as three mechanisms and four systems).

Crank linkage, valve train and fuel supply system are three basic parts of diesel engine. They cooperate with each other to complete the working cycle of diesel engine and realize energy conversion.

During the use of the diesel engine, the above parts should be paid full attention to, and no part should be ignored, otherwise, the normal operation of the diesel engine will not be guaranteed, and even cause serious damage to the diesel engine.

For modern diesel engine, on the basis of the above basic structure, it becomes a supercharged diesel engine by adding a supercharging system (increasing the intake pressure), and an electronically controlled diesel engine (including an electronically controlled common rail diesel engine and an electronically controlled single diesel engine) by electronically controlling the fuel supply system.
